Bailey the Labradoodle

Here he is, Bailey the Labradoodle. We’re looking after him for a friend while they’re on holiday and I thought seen as the sun was out I’d grab a few photos using the new Canon. I also wanted to try out my new Sandisk Extreme SD Card.

Fair play to Bailey he was extremely well behaved for me, so he deserved a hand full of treats for his patience. hopefully I’ll get to take some more photos of him before he goes home.

The Reminders Rehearsal Photo Shoot

The Reminders Rehearsal Photo shoot

Managed to wonder down to The Reminders Rehearsal Last week. Although I struggled in the low light I think I managed to get some great shots. All taken on Auto settings, not comfortable enough to start playing with camera settings. Barely able to hold it properly yet. But hey, the enthusiasms there. I even had a cheeky beer! Guess how many shots came out blurry. More photos to follow shortly.

Storm photo

raw, and captured from Video footage through a double glazed window.

Last week we had some quite powerful, if somewhat short storms (I’m still waiting for summer by the way). After hearing a few rumbles I seized the opportunity and set up my micro tripod on my bedroom window sill. My room has a view to die for, well almost. Nuneaton isn’t some picturesque lake, nestled in some delightful green rolling valley in the moors, but its still kind of beautiful to admire a town four or five miles away be it at night or day.

I set my trusty iphone up and recorded a few short videos totalling around 6 minutes. I thought I managed to capture a lot more, but after some extensive searching through the video I only managed to capture one lightening bolt. I’m still pleased to capture something but maybe next time I wont be so frugal on the footage. After all the media ive captured, video or photo ive learnt to never skimp. Take as many photos/videos you can, while you can.

The Reminders UK Live

I’ve been working on the Reminders Live footage from  a Greyhound Garage gig in back in May. Just splitting watermarking and converting so the file isn’t massive then uploading to youtube. If you have a few spare minutes take a look at their channel http://www.youtube.com/user/TheRemindersUK

The Crew

So last weekend I visited a venue called the Crew in Nuneaton. They have a Monthly Metal night there so I thought I would head along with local Metal band Futurekill to film there night.

First impressions, WOW ! what a fantastic venue! If I was a band I would be booking there. Upstairs is literally the best local venue by far.

Uploads coming soon, I promise!

Here’s some footage of The Reminders playing Heart Of Gold Live at The Greyhound Garage, Hinckley 16/05/12

Often people ask what I use to take photos or videos with. I reply with a simple “anything and everything”. There’s a lot of snobbery that goes with photography or anything involving media in general, or at least ive found that anyway. Don’t get me wrong I appreciate expensive and feature packed equipment – but I certainly don’t believe that you need some £1,000 DSLR to achieve results commonly seen on the internet or TV. I just use what I have and make the best I can with what I have. A perfect example of this is this photo taken on some old Nokia Mobile phone I had. Bella is my neighbours Cat, by far the best cat I have ever encountered or likely ever will. Unfortunately we lost her a couple of years ago due to a road collision but here she is, immortalized digitally. Rest in peace my furry friend.

DVD menu Authoring 50 cal media

Spent a couple of hours putting the latest DVD of the Reminders together tonight. The footage I taken from the rewind festival came out rather good considering my position to the stage and lighting. I recorded in Full HD at 29 Frames a second. This left me with some monstrous files, a 3minute 10 second track comes to 549MB! remember, if you would like us to film you or your band contact us fiftycalmedia@hotmail.com

My bespoke acoustic 50calmedia.com

Finally got round to uploading a photo of one of my guitars. This is a custom made acoustic I imported around four years ago. After playing it (rather badly may I add) I lay it down on my bed and loved the way the sun light bathed the wood in a glorious glow.

Its far too easy to over look things. I do it myself all the time, however on this occasion out of just sheer luck rather than skill I believe I managed overcome this with a photo of a Dandelion Flower. A common British weed with a relentless pace of Growth I first overlooked its flower as a subject. Well that was right until I seen this photo on my computer.  A Dandelion flower
