Managed to wonder down to The Reminders Rehearsal Last week. Although I struggled in the low light I think I managed to get some great shots. All taken on Auto settings, not comfortable enough to start playing with camera settings. Barely able to hold it properly yet. But hey, the enthusiasms there. I even had a cheeky beer! Guess how many shots came out blurry. More photos to follow shortly.

Last week we had some quite powerful, if somewhat short storms (I’m still waiting for summer by the way). After hearing a few rumbles I seized the opportunity and set up my micro tripod on my bedroom window sill. My room has a view to die for, well almost. Nuneaton isn’t some picturesque lake, nestled in some delightful green rolling valley in the moors, but its still kind of beautiful to admire a town four or five miles away be it at night or day.
I set my trusty iphone up and recorded a few short videos totalling around 6 minutes. I thought I managed to capture a lot more, but after some extensive searching through the video I only managed to capture one lightening bolt. I’m still pleased to capture something but maybe next time I wont be so frugal on the footage. After all the media ive captured, video or photo ive learnt to never skimp. Take as many photos/videos you can, while you can.
Often people ask what I use to take photos or videos with. I reply with a simple “anything and everything”. There’s a lot of snobbery that goes with photography or anything involving media in general, or at least ive found that anyway. Don’t get me wrong I appreciate expensive and feature packed equipment – but I certainly don’t believe that you need some £1,000 DSLR to achieve results commonly seen on the internet or TV. I just use what I have and make the best I can with what I have. A perfect example of this is this photo taken on some old Nokia Mobile phone I had. Bella is my neighbours Cat, by far the best cat I have ever encountered or likely ever will. Unfortunately we lost her a couple of years ago due to a road collision but here she is, immortalized digitally. Rest in peace my furry friend.
Finally got round to uploading a photo of one of my guitars. This is a custom made acoustic I imported around four years ago. After playing it (rather badly may I add) I lay it down on my bed and loved the way the sun light bathed the wood in a glorious glow.
